For the latter reason, I am also inclined to say that the experienced drop in rpm when doing the magneto test also depends prop pitch. So in result, there is no strict rpm to do the run up with. Nor is there a rpm number of magneto drop that you should or should not see. WebA magneto drop that exceeds the allowable limit, but is smooth, with no roughness is in most cases, late engine timing. WebOct 14, 2024 · Late engine timing, when a Magneto drop exceeds the allowable limit but is smooth, is most common in cases where the drop is smooth but not rough. The point of a cam follower may not open as quickly as it should. A late spark during a mag check causes an erosion of the sustainable RPM. Webamount of RPM drop, lhen relurn to BOTH, ensure RPM returns to 1800. lf the ignition switch is accidently turned to the oll position, leave it in the oll posi-tion and relard the throttle to idle. Once the propeller has slopped restart the en-gine. NOTE Maximum allowable RPM drop is'150, with a maximum difference belween magneto drops ol 50 RPM.
WebApr 6, 2024 · Maximum allowable mag drop is 175 rpm for each magneto, and 50-rpm diff erence between magnetos. If mag drop exceeds 175 rpm, lean the engine to peak rpm and then repeat the mag check at the newly leaned mixture.
