WebGORT (Gamma-ray Optical Robotic Telescope) is a 14” Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, that is mounted on a computer controlled tracking Paramount ME, inside a 12-foot Astrohaven clamshell dome. WebGort is a fictional robot from the film The Day the Earth Stood Still . 1951 Film The eight-foot metal robot accompanies Klaatu, a visitor to Earth from a distant planet, aboard a Flying Saucer. He does not speak, but uses a beam weapon projected from beneath a visor to vaporize weapons and obstacles.
