At one time the fishing fleet here numbered 50, the most famous being the but today only a few boats use the harbour. The picturesque beach is popular with visitors and locals throughout the summer. WebThe Butt of Lewis comprises of rocks and cliffs up to 80 feet high and is the location of a 121 ft high lighthouse. The lighthouse was built between 1859 and 1862 by David and Thomas Stevenson.
